Between Stars and Salvation

Celestial Whispers prequel

The gods are silent. The stars are merciless.

Humans have killed for survival, but they’ll die for freedom.

An assassin raised in the shadows, Alessia has spent her life fighting a war she cannot win. The stars—powerful beings who fell from the heavens—have enslaved humanity for centuries, and no matter how many she and her partner Theo strike down, even more rise to take their place.

Magic is vanishing from the world. Except in Alessia, whose abilities grow stronger—and more dangerous—with every battle.

When the resistance leader’s son is taken hostage, Alessia and Theo embark on a desperate mission to rally allies and awaken the sleeping gods. But as loyalties shift, destinies beckon, and their bond grows fiercer, the cost of their magic rises.

In a clash of mortals and stars, victory will demand not only strength but blood, betrayal, and a willing sacrifice.

A rising rebellion. A fated power. A love forged in the heavens.

The stars will fall. But who will rise from the ashes?

“I read this after reading the Celestial Whispers duology and I think it definitely stands on its own enough to be read before or after the duology.

This was a great story following Les and Theo (only extended characters in Celestial Whispers duology because of the time difference). I loved how their friendship blossomed into lovers and the way the characters grew.

For a shorter book, this brought tears to my eyes a few times! It also immediately made me want to go and reread the duology!”

“I adored this story. It was so exciting travelling back to see the backstory of one of my favourite duologies ever, especially with some familiar faces making an appearance. Like the duology, I fell hopelessly in love with every character, not just the mains, but the side characters too. And of course… Jeannin, why must you cause me pain like this? 😩😭 It’s emotional, heart-wrenching, and somehow beautiful all at once.

And that ending? Omg. I was SCREAMING... doing my little I remember this, I remember this dance 😂”

-Lottie

“I adored these characters. The connection, family that they created was beautiful in the height of the terror with the stars reigning. It was so nice to see where the first Atzia and Kanaliza began. Following Les and Theo’s story, we find love, humour and utter badassery. Theo is an ultimate green flag golden retriever of a man, while also being insanely deadly. Les was a badass through and through.
The love between Erik and Odile was beautiful as well. They were just as important to the story as our main characters. I also really appreciated seeing some stars from the original story, and learning more about their past.

Although Jeannin breaks my heart yet again, this story was absolutely a masterpiece. The plot was amazing, the characters so relatable and the emotions palpable.”
